We cover the whole of Cumbria and install piles ranging from 100mm to 373mm in diameter. Predominantly piling for extensions on domestic properties, we also pile for full houses, units/steel framed buildings and to underpin existing buildings. We provide a structural engineers design (unless you already have one) for building control and utilize 2 ways to pile, either using a grundomat mole mainly for home extensions which allows for poor access, or smallish piling rigs for larger piles which may be needed on houses or large units.
This is one of the small rigs being used to pile for a full house using 220 mm piles with the client having approached us with a design from their own engineer. The piles are knocked down until they are moving less then a set measurement amount after 10 blows which is dictated by the amount of weight to be on pile.
Here, the mole is inside a 150mm pile and is knocking it down. You can see they are ideal for restricted access sites and it is powered by a tow-able compressor so we can work almost anywhere. It is turned on low at the moment until it gets bedded in and the pile is sent down until it reaches a set specified by the manufacturer.
Another 2m section of pile is being welded on here. This is a 150mm pile which is by far the most common sized pile used. This same process of welding another section on is used for any sized pile used and the and we will do this until the surrounding ground gives enough friction to grab the pile, or the pile hits solid ground.
I’m genuine, straight talking and your job will be done correctly. If you want any shorts cuts, I am not the firm for you, my piles are always driven to the correct depth. I will try to help you work around any problems such as services being in the way and try to find the best and most cost effective solution for your job. If you need any advice or have any questions before, during or after your job I’m happy to tell u what I know, you can contact me anytime. Price wise, we have to be, competitively priced, which I am. Finally, I send the piles in using the correct techniques which means they can be measured to ensure they are strong enough, not everyone, does.
This job was for a home extension in Lowick Green, near Ulverston. The mole was used to knock in the piles and they all went around 2m deep where they encountered solid ground, probably bed rock.
Another extension, this time for a house at Blencogo, Wigton, not far from Carlisle. Again using the mole, these piles went about 8m deep until the friction around the pile, grabbed them sufficiently.
